Everyone involved in the Distinguished Gentleman's Drive has their own story, perhaps losing a loved one or personally pulling themselves back from the brink when life felt hopeless.
When I was a teenager I lost my grandad to suicide because he was struggling and didn't know how to ask for help. If only he had asked, what then?
On 9th September 2009, I lost my cousin Stephen to suicide, another needless loss of life, another man who could only see one way out.
My two personal experiences are just a drop in the ocean of the losses the world suffers every year of physically healthy men that find themselves in a hopeless situation.
I happened to find my grandad's 1935 Railton car for sale 4 years ago. Having bought it back into the family it feels entirely appropriate to drive it in the Distinguished Gentleman's Drive, some 70 years after my grandad last drove it, in his honour.
Please sponsor me for this event and speak to your friends, family, colleagues and contacts about how they can help prevent male suicide as well as the early diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
Who knows when these causes will touch our lives, but we can work towards a positive outcome for us all.
Love, Graeme xx
